Default need help; '99 center brake light

strangest thing... few days ago my dash lit up that a brake light is out. Checked & it's the center light in the rear window. Went to pull the bulb to replace and noticed there is no electrical connection. Just the gray plastic housing and the bulb. And there is no dangling wire or anything remotely close.

It has me confused, where does the electrical wire that plugs into the housing come from??? it's like it disappeared over-night... help and thx!

I'm guessing that you car either has a spoiler/wing on the trunk lid, or it used to.

On Hondas they will wire up the brake lights on the spoiler instead of the third brake light behind the rear glass, whether it's installed at the factory or the dealership. No reason for both.

If you do have a spoiler, I'd check to make sure the lights (or light) on it are working properly, otherwise I don't know why you would suddenly be getting a bad-bulb warning for the 3rd brake light.

Is it just the red brake warning lamp that you're talking about? The one that comes on when you have the e-brake pulled? If so, you might have a problem with your brakes. First thing I would do is check the fluid level in the reservoir(assuming the e-brake isn't engaged).

duhhhhh... I'm a dummy, you're spot on.

I have a facotory spoiler so the center light in rear dash is a dummy and was never connected. My wife looked and said it was out. Now we double-checked, & the center brake light embedded in my spolier is indeed good but it's actually the right rear brake light that is out. Thanks once again!

have a great weekend everyone

Glad to help

Believe me, you're far from the first people to make that mistake.
