Default My headlight bulbs keep burning out!!!!!

I'm really frustrated because I have gone through about three new sets of head light bulbs all sylvania silver star or sylvania silver star ultras. I have had my car for about 3 years now and one bulb always goes out in about 4 or 5 months after I put them in. These bulbs aren't low qualtiy so I don't get it. Is this a defect for '97 V6's????? Should I just stop buying nice bulbs? Any help is very appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Same thing happened to my brother's set. He'd blow though SilverStars every 2 months it seemed like.

Just make sure NOT to touch the glass on your bulb. The oils in your fingers will stick to the glass and cook the part when turned on. You'll dramatically lessen the bulb's life though mishandling.

Hmm.. I guess you can try standard bulbs for a few months and see if they burn out. If not, then it is those silverstars. I would get HIDs IMHO.

I just had a 5 month old Silverstar Ultra blow out yesterday. I had similar problems a few years back with the regular Silverstars, but I thought I'd give Sylvania another chance with the Ultras - no luck. A lot of people have had problems with them. It's either a poor design or Sylvania has really bad quality control.

Does anybody have suggestions for a replacement bulb that will give a good bright, white light? I liked the performance of the Silverstars (when they worked). I don't want to spend a few hundred buck to upgrade to HID though.

I would recommend that you stay away from the Silverstars cause I've had them blow out on me after like 2 months, some didn't even last that long. I went through a couple of pairs until I got tired of them and went back to OEM bulbs. For some reason the SS don't last very long. I had better luck with the regular cheapo bulbs from the local auto parts store than with Sylvania.

I've had silverstars burn out fairly quickly as well.

silverstars are crap, don't buy them. the only aftermarket bulb that worked great for me was the PIAA bulbs. expensive but they lasted 2 years for me.
I can't justify the expense anymore so I'm back with OEM stock bulbs. they do the job just fine.
