Default Accord starts humming on acceleration

I am not sure how describe the problem I am having. I own a Honda Accord 5Speed manual. I have 56,000 miles.

When I drive down the highway, my accord starts humming on acceleration. When I get to 65, I can hear the sound clearly. It does not sound like the motor though. I did a hold down the accelerator driving and hold down the brake at the same time that is when the humming stopped.

The sound sounds like it is coming from underneath the hood. Any help or idea what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's rather hard to diagnose sounds over the interwebs. But, alas, when was your last tune-up?

I kind of figured it would be hard to figure out what it could be, just thought someone might have had the same problem. My last tuneup was 2 month ago.....

If it sounds like a hair dryer, check the alternator. When those things are about to go, it sounds like you have a miniblower running under the hood.

It doesn't really sound like a hair dryer. It only does it when I am at a high speed 60 and above. It doesn't make sounds when I start it up or sounds louder at different times. There is no continious hum except when I am at a higher speed. I guess I might have to run it to the Dealership, but argggg they will charge 100.00 which I really don't have at the moment. I was saving up for the timingbelt replacement which will come up soon enough.
