Default Engine stalls with less than a 1/4 of a tank of gas

My sons 94 Accord EX, auto, with 140k miles has developed a strange problem. It started stalling when he would make a left hand turn????? I drove it and yep any kind of left hand turn it would stall but come back when you let off the gas pedal. I inspected all the things that I thought might cause the problem, ignitor, main relay, wiring, with no obivious signs of trouble. I noticed he only had a 1/8 of a tank of gas and as a last resort I suggested he get some more and he filled it to 3/4. The problem went away. I'm thinking it has to be a problem in the tank. Maybe some bad gas, a fuel pump problem. I've done a lot of work on Acura Legends and Honda Accords but this one has me stumped. Any ideas??????????

i'd check the fuel pump first. but get one from the junkyard. the new ones cost a fortune.

or empty out the tank all the way and fill it up w/ new gas. i guess do this first since it will be more easier.

maybe his gas gauge or sending unit is not accurate. could be getting gunk in the fuel line when the tank gets low.

The fuel pump must have some kind of nozzle that sucks gas from near the bottom of the tank. If it's leaking, then it could suck air when the level is low. Sorta like drinking thru a straw with a hole in it...

I'll drop the tank and look for problems. I'll post back with what I find.

You do not have to drop the tank you can get to the pump from the trunk. When you get the pump out plug it back in and mess with the float and see what the gauge dose. Also look for holes in the pick up.
