Default 6th gen driver airbag replacement

My cable reel is broken. I have the procedures to remove the airbag, steering wheel and cable reel. I have to remove the airbag the get the part number for the cable reel. That means the airbag will sit on my workbench until I get the new cable reel. I read somewhere in this forum about storing the airbag and something about shorting the connector to prevent deployment. I'm not sure how to do this.

just put the airbag in a bag and keep it in a safe place. the chances of the airbag blowing up accidentally (when out) are like 0, but there's still a chance.
the steering wheel should have a little part built in and that you can remove. it has a short connector on it. its in red color. if u have that part, then put that on top of the yellow connector coming out of the airbag, and put it some where safe.

its not something to be scared of. like i said the chances of the airbag blowing up by itself are like 0

acutally the red shorting clip is only on 95 or older accords the 6th gen has a self shorting connector built into the plug.
