Default any bad accords?

I am considering a used accord for my next sedan. Anyone know if there are any years or types that are problem cars?

Most notorius problem years are 98-02...But buying a used car brings with it risks beyond production values

whats ur price range?
the only accords that had a bad problem was 98-02 Accord V6s. Most of the had transmissions that went bad after 100K miles.

I could've sworn I heard about an auto tranny problem(needing to be replaced twice) on an '03 accord v6 but it's possible that the person gave the wrong year or something.

Default Hi! For your *bad accord question...*

I have a 01 Accord 4 Cyl, M/T. No problem at all.. except replacement of r/h drive axle. The 4 cylinders models are easier to work on. I also heard about transmission problems on V6 models.

Hope it helps!

There really aren't any bad accord years. Each generation had a few quirks but nothing major with the exception of the 98-02 automatic transmissions. I personally would stay away from any autos in those years, V6 or I-4.

no car is without problems. the automatic trannies r stinkers. not just with the accord. the problem extends to all the models. the manuals r not without issues also. some of them have had problems going out before their useful life is over. depends on how far u want to go back. the older ones were much more reliable then the current ones. that said, the older ones r old. they r starting to need major work. i have a 92 its getting nickle and dimey at the moment. yet it is just now that im replacing anything pricey. some of it for the 1st time. axles, brake master cylinder, rack and pinion eventually. so 15 yrs and 136,000 she is due her work.

i did have to replace the auto tranny 2 yrs ago at 113,000 est. just went out after the dealer flushed it. it was never abused. the trannies dont have a filter that is replaceable. the design stinks. u have 2 tiny internal screens that get clogged up with clutch pack and torque converter material. engine is still fine. no oil leaks or burning.. manuals at this age may need synchros and clutches. u will need to do a search to see how well the manuals have faired in the gen u r interested in.

try edmunds.com for user reviews. epinions.com also. u can just punch in the yr and user reviews online to see what is out there.

Interesting you should mention that! I just bought an 02 Accord EX 4-cyl MT and the left hand drive axle needs replacing. Odd, since the car only had 51K miles on it. But other than that, the car was in very good shape.

My driver side axle on my 95 accord lx has problems. i think it might have been the mechanic that botched the work however. Other than that the car is awesome.
