Default Oh hi I need some help

Hello,

First post. h:

The speedometer and odometer took a crap on my 1987 Accord about a year ago. So the odometer is stuck at about 228k miles although it really has much more than that. However the RPM meter works somewhat ok. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Anyways, I was told that I need to replace the speed sensor to get the speedometer and odometer working again. Searching google, I am given the impression that this car doesn't use a sensor?? I can only find stuff on 90's accords with speed sensors. I assume this car doesn't use a sensor? Help!

Thanks

changing the car will help.

probably change the cluster out.
that will help. you should be able to get one from junkyard for under $50.

lol! I'll get rid of it when it dies on me. Its got many miles and its running great. No major problems.

I was going to change the cluster, but I was just going by what my friends at midas said. they said it was the "speed sensor" that took a crap. doing a little reading i thought this may have been the problem. but i couldnt find any 87 accords that use a speed sensor. so im just trying to make sure.

i may have to change the cluster though. the rpm meter works whenever it wants. but the majority of the time it works. but apart from the speedometer odometer and the crazy rpm meter, the other things work.

first need to change the ignition coil. sometimes it takes quite some time to get the car to start.
