Default FINALLY my transmission is working 110%

I can say this has been the longest issue i've had with my car

I was developing shifting problems from 1st -2nd, and when slowing down it would down shift hard.
I think this started around 70k miles,
I took it to honda 4 times and they told me each time there is no problem. I was fighting back and forth and eventually gave up. ( i knew it wasnt mechanical because it would of broken down by now )

So I did a bit of research on the linear solenoid. I believe the 97 series accords had that problem on the 6th gen the fix is to change tranny's.

My friend has an 01 v6 sedan which had tranny issues and needed replacement. His issue and mine were totally different so I knew this solenoid was the issue.

I swapped the part ( if you do change this part make sure you buy that silicone gasket thing ( i think honda sells it for 18 bucks, its called honda bond ....)
upon putting the solenoid back on I developed a tranny oil leak because it wasnt sealed properly, its a bitch to get that part snugged in there.

Now after 6 hours, 5 bags of kitty litter and a stained up the ass driveway with tranny fluid It seems that fixed my problem. Shifting is so much smoother and it catches gear just like when i drove the car out of the dealer ship on mar 2002.
Now im not sure if this will be the fix for all models but, if you develope a problem in your 4cyl 6thgen accord with shifting issues try changing that solenoid out. Its only 180 bucks vs 2g's + replacing a needless transmission

this is the part in question. If you look at the lower left of the circled image there is a bracket thats extending downward from the bolt. I think that bracket wasnt seated properly when I placed the new one on because thats where the leak was coming from.

yeah....down shit hard...lol

my bad.. when i would come to a stop light or red light you can feel the transmission downshifting quite rough. Also if your crusing on the highway and you floor it , it would engage really rough into 2nd and there seemed to be a delay when catching.

I have a 2000 Accord LX and had the same problem, I brought it to a Honda dealer and they said it has extended warranty on the tranny in other words RECALL, so they replaced it with new one for FREE , now my Accord is cured

My 2000 EX sedan has 155,000 and it has a problem similar to that of the original poster.

The first -> second shift if rough if moderate to heavy throttle is used.

The second -> first downshift is rough, especially on downgrades.

When the throttle is floored, often times the RPMs will shoot up, then the transmission will catch the next gear. It's very jerky. I can best describe it as being slow. When you use light throttle, it's ok. Under moderate to heavy throttle, the tranny can't shift fast enough.

How many linear solenoids are there on the transmission? Are they for specific gear changes?

Sorry for bringing back a pretty old thread, but I'm trying to help out a friend with an 02 Accord EX coupe w/ auto tranny (4cyl).

He now has this weird problem with the tranny where when he goes almost to a complete stop, the car would "buck". Not sure if this is the correct term for it.

But it only happens when the car is just before a complete stop and doesn't happen any other times. Would replacing the solenoid help eliminate this?
