I think permatex makes a rust remover you can get it at any auto parts store the one I bought converted rust to primed surface and it brushes on to the car...but the bad is this stuff does stain paint but it's better then rusted paint.

I'll have to look into getting some of that. Thanks for the info. I just don't want it to spread anymore.
