Top speed is governed by the ECU not the transmission

In theory, a h22 with a f series trans will have a faster top speed than a h22 with a h series trans.
I always thought the ECU limited the top speed too. I did a quick search on removing speed limiter and found information that says differently. Heres a quote from a different thread.

I am 99.9% sure that Honda governers are in the tranny not in the ecu. You can argue all you want to but i know for a fact that me and my boy both have h22a swaps. I have the FULL swap (h22a engine and tranny) and he only has the engine he kept his F22 tranny. We BOTH have AFTERMARTKET reprogramed ecu's(not just chipped) and he has a VAFC II w/vtec controller. Mine no longer cuts off and will do 150 or faster all day long. His STILL CUTS OFF at 120 in the either the top of 3rd gear or the bottom of 4th.

That was my post this is just more insight.
in other words he has a skunk2 reprogramed p13 ecu not just a stock accord ecu thats been reflashed. Mine is the jun setup. both claim to remove speed limiters and raise revlimiters. His cuts off... mine doesnt. He kept his stock tranny, i didnt. I say it again his cuts off and mine dosent.

If anyone has proof that the speed limiter IS in the ECU, please post a reply and show the proof.

It doesn't say what ECU's they used

Going that fast is pointless unelss your on a track

Im still right in my assumption, I was under the impression he wanted a stock ECU and a new tranny....

mine cuts at 120. Id like there to not be a cutoff, even though I RARELY go that fast.

top speed should not be reached anywhere but on a track. its just not safe.
It does say which ECU they used, but thats not the point.
If i had another car with an auto trans, i would personally swap in a b16 trans on the h22.
The only limiting factor should be the cost. Doing a h22 swap with the h22 trans will more than likely be the cheapest alternative. Unless you just go out and buy a new auto F series trans.

yeah, ive reached 120 ONCE on I-79. Needless to say I was stupid and Im never doing it again, most Ill go is 80 anymore. I was so scared when the car cutout at 120, kinda jerked everything and Im just glad I didnt jerk the wheel.

This swap wont happen

Edit: unless you are planning on racing, doubt it or building the h22 why even bother? just get a new tranny. Ive had the money to do a h22 swap i dont think its necesarry id rather make my car look nice. Maybe once reality hits you you'll know what really matters.

i think the only 6 speed f series trans is from the s2000. That engine would be the F20C. Don't quote me on it being the only one though. Its just from the top of my head.
You shouldn't rag on him for wanting to do a swap. If he feels that it what he wants, then more power to him for following through.

This swap is happening this coming week. Im getting an H22 w/ 5sp with only 10k miles. Anything that looked even slightly worn was rebuilt in it. The dude working on it knows what he's doing, and Ive known him and his cars for years.

My car already looks nice, and I know what matters to ME.

And, Ive seen H22 threads that you have participated in, and I remember reading things like "I want an H22 sooo bad" and "I hope to have an H22 by the end of senior year". So, GTFO
