Default Oil Change

I just bought 1 gallon of Mobile 1 Syntheic oil 5-30 in my Accord Coupe....I couldnt pass up a Gallon of Sythetic oil for 18.99$ at this closeout Store. I took it to my friends shop and he even threw me a free oil filter....i tipped his ass 5 bucks

Do you(everyone) think its better with this oil or just get normal oil. My neighbor reccomended the Syntheics even for my Car.

Synthetic oil is good for how many miles? 3k?-5k?..............

mmmmm Synthetic just Sounds So Sexy

Alrighty then.

+ Synthetic oils have better viscosity performance. (low and high temp tests)
+ They reduce engine wear
+ They're resistant to oil sludge

- They might not coat seals as well as regular oil.

Synthetic oil is something you do for life. There is no switching in and out when there's a sale. If you switch back and forth, you'll develop leaks due to rotting seals.

Is your neighbor a mechanic? I wouldn't take car advice from some schlub that lives next door.

Agreed...I changed to synthetic on a 93 cutlass with over 100k miles. Soon after started developing minor leaks. As mentioned, deal or no deal this is something I would only use on a new car and stick with it...Jack

Never really a Sale. Just a Store that sells it at a reduced ass price.

Ive been getting Synthetics for a while now.

You shouldnt switch from regular oil to synthetic oil if your car is at high mileage. This will cause it to leak faster through any cracks that are already in the seals. But if your car is at low mileage make the switch to synthetic it will probably do your car some good.
