Default Minimum wattage for infinity 605cs?

I'm about to purchase some infinity 605cs component speakers but I am concerned about whether or not my head unit can power them efficietly. Right now I have an alpine 3de-7886 which puts out 35 x4 watts max, and 15 watts x4 continuous. On infinity's website, the specs say the max power for the speakers is 270W and the RMS is 90W. Will my head unit provide enough power or should I get an amp?

decent component speakers will never sound good powered by any headunit.

too little wattage will blow your speakers b/c the headunit amp will clip.

i run a 85x4rms to run my components in my accord (6.5 mb quarts up front, 6.5 polks in the back) and the sound is *decent*

I had the 605cs in my old teg and ran them off deck power for like a month or so. They will be fine just as long as you dont turn up the volume to where its starts to distort/clip. But i highly recommend getting some decent power to them around 50-100w rms to really make them sing.

lol.......where did you hear this or it just came out your mind? there's no such thing that too little power can blow speakers. you would blow speakers, if and only if you overpower them cuz of the extra loads of current

Actually if you have too little wattage to high end speaker, AND try to turn up the volume, that will cause them to clip and damage them. Thats why you get an amp. No that didn't come out of my head, it came from experience.

It is the distortion that most often "blows" speakers. Factory headunits are usually underpowered and have a lot of distortion.

Here is how it goes down...
You turn up the volume cause ther isn't enough power going to the speakers to make them sound good. The more you turn it up the more you are pushing the factory headunit amp to its limits. This causes really bad distortion and BANG - blown speakers.

I am currently running factory headunit and speakers with an Alpine CD changer. All my **** was blown by its previous owner and I got no money to do it right so I am waiting a while.
