finally, someone else who knows what he's talking about

thats why you get amps + speakers then headunit for best sound. better yet, just save up and get everything at once.

steveng: don't talk about stuff you do'nt know about.... honestly

everyone is right. the #1 way to blow speakers is to under power them...

i JUST installed 605cs on my friend's 94 accord. they sound SWEET. i can't believe how good they sound, i'm about to sell my separate front tweets and 6/12 for them.... he's running power from a JVC headunit for the time eing and they sound good... ... real bassy

lol.........i don't know what i am talking about? lol...... im not going to say no more about this. you read this whole web page before you start pointing ur fingers at me. if you still think that less power will blow up speakers after reading those, then you are just an idiot.

in case you are too lazy to read or you just don't want to admit you are wrong. i did you a favor, copied the stuffs for you
Too Little Power:
As you have probably heard, some people say that too little power can blow speakers. Well... How can I say this... BULL S***

Too little power will only cause the maximum output level to be low. Abuse and the defective 'wing nut' (an idiot) connected to the volume control blow speakers with low powered amplifiers. If driving a speaker with low power would cause them to fail, speakers would fail every time you lower the volume on the head unit. I will try to explain what happens when speakers are driven with clipped signals but remember... you get what you pay for.
:
You should remember:
1.Idiots blow speakers, not low power. :
now, who's the idiots.
and for those of you who think that high end speakers are more fragile or easier to blow than low end speakers, you are WRONG. high end speakers are more expensive because the materials they were made of are better than those low end ones. in other words, they are more durable. for instance, titanium cone and paper cone. lol....low power will cause high end speakers to blow

just so you know, u use amp to power speakers not because they could prevent speakers from damaging. in fact, if you use an amp with the RMS power more than the max power a speaker can handle, it is going to blow the speaker any time as you play the music at high volume continuously. remember, you should always try to match up the amp power with the power speakers can handle. just my .02

steveng: i did not mean to point fingers, its what I know... and other people agreed. and I basically do read most of the site... you could have responded in 1 post not 3....

as a counterpoint, think of it this way. jon doe wants to play music, he likes it loud. so he turns it up. he will most likely blow them on lower powered speakers because the speakers are straining and trying a lot harder to reproduce the sound w/ less power. with more power, its not trying as hard to reproduce the same sound level. Granted that its usually the owner who blows them... but of COURSE> who else will blow them? you also blow high powered speakers because of the user and basically everything else in the car. In the same conditions, you will blow a low powered speaker faster than you blow a high powered one (ie from an amp) at the same sound level soley because they throwing farther and "fluttering" to recreate the sound at the desired level.

as an analogy... what would last longer a lawn mower engine doing the work of 4 cyl. or your 4 banger in a accord?

What you said is correct to a certain extent. but some more epensive speakers actually could be more fraile and need a cleaner signal to recreate a better sound. did you know paper still recreates the best sound? but they are not as durable. so all that poly-whater and butyl rubber are there for durability. so you are right to a certain extent... its also technology related,r&d and how the parts of the speaker interact are factors in cost.

you seemed to be hung up on this subject cuz you definately said you weren't going to talk about it anymore in the first post... then came the second one...

an amp's rms is rarely higher than the max power a speaker can handle... and yes if you do this you are an idiot. i am not.

we actually used a 1" something hole saw to drill a hold in the door for a flush mount. looks really good. The reason is that the infinity's don't come with a angled surface mount so we couldn't play with the positisioning... basically directly in front of the door handle where it starts to bend inwards towards the dash.... thats where we drilled the holes. looks sweet and sounds really good.

i will try to take a picture if I get the chance (it isn't my car)
