Fuel Indicator way past "F"
Hi! Please forgive me if I don't use the correct technical terms. I'm a very non-technical female (I'm a Realtor by trade) and a poster child for the "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" club. Anyway, I own an '05 Accord EX V-6. This afternoon I used it to jump my twin sister's Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I was connecting the jumper cables, I accidentally loosened one of the wires on the battery. No big deal (or so I thought), I just re-connected it jumped the Jeep and we both went on our merry ways (my sister to Pep boys to get a new battery installed). As I was driving away, I realized that my XM radio wasn't working AND the fuel indicator needle was WAY past the full level. I had about 3/4 of a tank of gas. While browsing various forums, I figured out how to find the code to re-set the radio (sticker inside of glove box...very secure) but have NO CLUE what to do about the fuel needle. To use a clock analogy, if the "E" is at 10 and the "F" is at 2, the needle is at 5!!! When I turn the car off, it tries to move back up but is stuck. If you read this far, thank you. Any ideas? Is it something I can fix on my own? What should I expect to pay if I take it to the dealer? Thanks again!
You could try the following:
Take the black negative cable off totally and put it back on and see what happens.
Check out the fuse for that particular circuit.
Reset your computer with the 7.5 amp brown fuse in the underhood fuse box. You could do a "how to" SEARCH first.
After that it may be more complicated: bad fuel gauge, bad sending unit, a short in the wiring, etc.
Good luck.

I would do the same steps as above.
If fuses look good and disconnecting the battery doesnt work. I would contact the dealer and basically play stupid and tell them your fuel guage level isnt working. Dont tell them anything about you jumping your sisters car cause im sure they will come up with some b.s and tell you
"uhh, you just voided warranty because you shorted this or that out "
hopefully disconnecting the battery will work since that will reset the ECU.
I would suggest pulling out the main fuser but im not sure which fuse it is.

I would go with the disconnecting negitive cable on the battery and wait for about 5 mins just to be safe then reconnect it, if the problem is still there most likely theres somthing wrong with the gauge module and since the car is a 05 it should still be under warranty.
