Default Fuel Indicator way past "F"

Hi! Please forgive me if I don't use the correct technical terms. I'm a very non-technical female (I'm a Realtor by trade) and a poster child for the "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" club. Anyway, I own an '05 Accord EX V-6. This afternoon I used it to jump my twin sister's Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I was connecting the jumper cables, I accidentally loosened one of the wires on the battery. No big deal (or so I thought), I just re-connected it jumped the Jeep and we both went on our merry ways (my sister to Pep boys to get a new battery installed). As I was driving away, I realized that my XM radio wasn't working AND the fuel indicator needle was WAY past the full level. I had about 3/4 of a tank of gas. While browsing various forums, I figured out how to find the code to re-set the radio (sticker inside of glove box...very secure) but have NO CLUE what to do about the fuel needle. To use a clock analogy, if the "E" is at 10 and the "F" is at 2, the needle is at 5!!! When I turn the car off, it tries to move back up but is stuck. If you read this far, thank you. Any ideas? Is it something I can fix on my own? What should I expect to pay if I take it to the dealer? Thanks again!
