MY 98 accord v6 's check engine light is on!!

Default MY 98 accord v6 's check engine light is on!!

It has 90k miles and its an EX.
the light went on yesterday after I refilled gas.
I am the original owner what should I do step by step?
I am not very good at fixing cars.

also the maint reiqured light flashes too even though i changed oil not 2k miles ago!!!!

reset maint light.
make sure the gas cap is close.
do a search u will find the answer u are looking for and if u don't, then take it to autozone they scan for free.

Ok ok ok fine......you said your "check engine" light went on after you stopped for gas? Open your gas cover and turn your gas cap a few clicks. A simple thing like a loose gas cap will trigger your "engine light".

Your maintainance lights will flash/go on regardless if any maintainance was done or not. It's just a reminder and unless it is reset it will continue to flash/stay on.

thanks guys! I just went to reset my maint light and then i started the car. the light went off. Great.. then all of a sudden the timing belt broke.....

Sounds like you have really bad luck man......what makes you think the timing belt broke???

damn,.....how are you sure your timing belt is broken? Do you see it hanging under the car? Maybe you meant power steering belt?
