Default Transmission

Recently a couple of times, my transmission has acted up and the D4 light on my dashboard starts blinking regardless of what gear I'm in. When it does this, it drives really slow and revs really high like its not all the way in gear. I have an automatic, 1998 Accord EX 4DR and have already replaced the transmission once 3 years ago. When I checked my fluid, it looks like it is twice as high up the stick as it is supposed to be. I got my oil changed at Walmart a couple of weeks ago and they check your transmission fluid as part of the 18 point inspection. I'm wondering if they filled it up too much. Could too much fluid cause these problems? Is the damage repairable?

If im not mistaken transmission problems are stored in the ECU as well.....see what codes you can pull.

I don't have anything to read it. I guess I'm going to have to go to AutoZone, but I don't know if it's safe to drive. Last time I tried to drive it while this problem was happening, I started smelling a burning smell.

damn u really dont care about ur car. why in the world would you even consider changing the transmission fluid for a honda n Walmart LOL.

rule #1 use honda ATF only
#2 never ever ever let anyone ever touch ur transmission unless is a honda dealer or a trusted personal mechanic with honda ATF.
#3 don't ever write Walmart and honda in the same sentence.

hey did they use Walmart oil LOL?

if this all happened after your trip to walmart.... then walmart definately messed with the fluid.

our trannys NEED honda atf.... or they run like shit on other brand tranny oils.

1st thing i would go is get the fluid replaced at the dealer, or buy the fluid at the dealer, and have another shop drain and fill the fluid 3 times, or do it yourself.

is your check engine light on by any chance?
