My friend has 93 Accord. He didn't dirve that car for about 2 months. Yesterday, he and I tried to start the car but whenever we shift to D "Drive", the engine turns off. The car starts fine without eny trouble and it works fine in the Reverse gear too. But only when we shift Drive, the engine just turned off. I checked all the fluid levels including transmission. He changed the transmission fluid just before he decided not to drive that car 2 months ago. Any Idea what could go wrong here. Is it the transmission? or something else?

does it stumble then stall, or just suddenly die? it sounds like the drive gear may be shot, try shifting it directly from neutral to 2nd. it may just be first gear thats screwing with the engine

 

UPDATE:

we went to the see a tech. he drained out he fluid and refilled it and the car just works fine now. I just dont' get this!!! I checked the fluids before, everything was fine.
