Shifting In A Automatic Car
So I have a 2004 Honda Accord with the V6. I have been told its bad for the transmission to start from 1st and then gear up to 2nd and then 3rd and then into drive. I just wanted to know if it was good or bad for your car.
Also down shifting from drive to 3rd then 2nd and then 1st is that good or bad for the tranny too?
Thanks
Stefan

it's pointless.
you'll probably kill the tranny prematurely from wear but it's not that it's all that bad. but i wouldnt expect that v6 transmission to last till 100k with you doing it.

If so, wouldnt their opinion supercede ours?
:dunno:
You want to act/ drive stick, get the real thing.
You will kill that tranny quicker than a mouse in a snake pit.
It might not be a bad idea when you're in a bit of a tight spot, like trying to slow the car down via the tranny in snow/ice (even then, not super effective), but as said, I wouldn't make a practice of it. Heck, I rarely downshift even with a manual. Brake pads/rotors are easier replaced than clutches.
