Default Low idle on 98 accord v6

This only seemed to have started happening after the cold weather has begun.

After leaving the car overnight, starting the car will leave the rpm's at a little over 1k and then it will go down to normal after warming up. This seems okay.

But after driving around a while and turning off the car, returning to it shortly and starting up the car leaves the idle at around 200. The car shakes a bit and I have to wait a while for it to go back to normal. There aren't any issues at stop lights, driving, etc.

Do I simply need to change spark plugs, clean pcv valve, etc?

clean the EGR ports, throttle body and run seafoam through your intake manifold. Then change your spaark plugs.

isn't seafoam going to ruin my o2 sensors and spark plugs.

is there one thing i can try to resolve the problem rather than try different things at one time. tryign to minimize cost.

...hence changing your spark plugs. And no, it's fine for O2 sensors. Silicon based sprays are bad for O2 sensors.

Cleaning EGR ports = $5 can of carb spray and some q-tips/toothpicks and another $5 worth of gaskets
Cleaning throttle body = Use the carb spray
Spark plugs = $13

Don't see where the cost is coming from.

ok i suppose i'll do the seafoam and spark plugs since i am coming up on an oil change..

cleaning the egr ports will be tougher for me since i'm not too competent with tools and don't own any.

Only tools you need are a 3/8" ratchet, some extensions and maybe 3 or 4 sockets. It's really easy to do, it's been written about a lot on here. Do you have any friends that could help you? It's like a $200 job at the dealer but only takes maybe 2-3 hours yourself.

edit: make sure you get NGK or Denso copper or platinum plugs (I recommend NGK V-Power copper).

My car does that too. Same as my other topic. After driving it for a while and turn it off, coming back shortly like about 10 mins. turning my car on, the rpm would start up and then drop down to 200rpm, shake a lot and back to normal. I'll try those ideals to see if it helps.

amazon? just go to advance auto, it's like $5 a can. get the spark plugs there too. Make sure you don't get the deep creep or anything, get the regular stuff.

It could be the idle control valve or the air temperature sensor.
