it shifts about 4500 at full throttle and shifts. Hits rev limiter just before 5 grand when manually shifting

It has the stock 2.2 vtec in it. Bought the car with 78000 miles. I don't know if the timing belt was ever done on it though. The only thing i can think of is that maybe the timing belt was changed and the timing is off a tooth. When the car is in park it will rev out to 4750 rmps. Also when shifting manuelly it will hit the limiter at 4750. The car also feels a little sluggish...???? No Codes...

4750 sounds rite.4500 sounds low.Let me talk to a tech that owned one i think the m/t will rev to 6.Or i will test drive one.Give me a day or two.

You could check you timing.Use the picks. You will have to take the top timing cover off and use the white mark on the crank pulley. All lines should line up.
