Default Honda Accord '97 - Check Engine Light - TCC malfunction

Just yesterday the check engine light has turned on for the first time. This car has 112000 miles and runs great. I went to AutoZone and the guy there was very helpful and he connected an auto scanner and told me that there is a mulfuction associated with TCC (something like Torque converter ... ).

Any ideas or hints what this thing is? And, how much it may cost to get this repaird? Or any thing else that someone here could suggest for me to try in order to get this terrifying check engine light fixed up?

Regards.

Well, I did'nt really understand how that auto scanner worked. I do'nt remember that code. The AutoZone guy said may be its only solenoid of that TCC is not good or may be it all needs replacement.

if the transmission is smooth working great then is probably just one of the sensors that need to be replace. go back and get the code.

I'm sorry I got busy with my finals. I have been avoiding to drive this Honda Accord '97 in order to avoid any potential damage.

I went again to get the code for the TCC problem. The code they gave me is P0740 - TCC - Circuit malfunction.

A friend suggested that if I change the transmission fluid, the light might go away. I really could'nt locate the dip stick for the transmission fluid .

Any comments? Any help?

- Happy Holidays!

Thanks 'flyromeo3' for your prompt reply. Can I ask how much did you have to spend getting this thing rectified?

- Regards.

FYI, your car is under a 14 year/150,000 miles extended emissions warranty from the factory. your local dealership will print out a copy of the list of everything the warranty covers for you. If the car hasn't yet had a tune-up, you'll get a free one from Honda. I know that this particular time is may possibly be transmission related, but just throwing that out there for you next time the check engine light comes on (Which usually means a problem with the emissions system) MAP sensors and O2 sensors are the most common failures to trigger the light, and are covered under the warranty (as is the speed sensor, which is a common failure on this generation Accord)
