Default polishing body lip?

did anyone ever try sanding down the body lip on a 5th gen accord and polish it with some plastic polish? my attempt to paint the whole lip failed and now i want to go back to the factory look and strip all the paint off, but i dont want it looking like i butchered it.

ok try sanding off the paint with 100 grit paper. then after all the paint is gone sand it with 220 (i like the 3m yellow colored stuff, it cuts real well and leaves a smooth surface) from there it will look sanded. so get some wet sand paper and get to it. that should end up looking good. if you want a really nifty look...after you sand it with the 220, clearcoat it. let the clearcoat dry and then wet sand and buff (by hand or machine) it'll look wicked sharp.

good luck,
andrew

Also, use some mother plastic polish if you want to just buff the plastic itself.

it's to soft to polish. you could make it smooth at best with a light shine.

i did a write up on plastic polishing:
