door speakers on 2000 V6
I bought some new Kenwoods 6.5's to replace my factory speakers and I dont know exactly how to get to them to replace them. Can someone point me the right direction for removing the door panel etc to get the speakers out. Thanks
It was a little tricky for me. I have a '99 with the I4 but I'd assume the doors are the same. The panel is held by a series of plugs, for lack of a better word, that snap into or out of place when you pull/push on the panel. But be careful, don't force the panel. Just pull slowly and each plug should pop out of place. I removed the whole lower part of the door panel this way then wedged a screwdriver against the door and the panel on the lower part of the panel to give me enough clearance to get the old speaker out and the new one in. I didn't try to remove the whole panel, I couldn't figure out how to remove the top where the handle and all the door/window switches were at. It was sort of a pain in the arse to just unsnap the bottom and try to work from under the door but I didn't want to remove the whole door panel and mess with the electrical stuff. I'm sure theres a better way than I did it, but it was pretty easy and quick and didn't screw anything up.
Thanks for the info... I was hoping I could only remove the lower panels as well. I have been looking everywhere for some instructions too but can't find them anywhere. I am welcome to other suggestions too if anyone has any. I plan on installing today and I will take pics after I was her up from my trip this past weekend.

Here's a nice write-up with pictures. It does, however, tell you to cut your plugs off. Don't, buy the harness from Best Buy or Circuit.

screw in door handle and in the tray on door. remove those first then the plastic piece on the inside of the side mirror then a little plug near that, then gently pry the panel off going around the outside
