i was looking into buying a msd external ignition coil and found one on ebay but was wondering if it is overpriced. Could i get one cheaper somewhere else? I thought the MSD coil for the 03-05 Accord went for about $200 new, but maybe I'm wrong.

 

that system is for the EX only. The VTEC motor has a different distributor with the coil inside. You can easily add a better coil to your car, since it already has an external coil. All you need is the coil itself, and the bracket if you want it.

 

What does a new coil do for your car, performance wise on a stock engine? Will it give your spark plugs a strong spark?

 

stronger spark... with an unmodified motor, it will pretty much just give you better mileage... my 94 ex went from 25 mpg to around 30 mpg average.

The stock coils in Hondas are pretty weak, especially the internal coil distributors.

the cap should cst a max of 50 dollars.
