Hello all,

I'm looking at a used 88 Accord DX, 183k, looks nice and not abused. Part of the ad reads as follows:

4-speed automatic (4th gear doesn't work, needs new clutch packs) 1-3rd gear shifts and run great.

Emailing the owner I'm told it runs great, just won't go into 4th. I'm fine with that cuz I just need a local commuter car. Priced at 600. I see lots of bad news around here about Honda trannys - was that the case way back in 88 too?

My questions for the Honda experts: how long would you expect this to run as is till I'd need trans work and how easy would it be to find a used tranny to replace it?
