I Recently Acquired A '00 Accord Ex V6 W/ 138k. It Seems To Be In Great Condition Inside And Out. The Only Problem Is A Bounding Idle At About 400rpm To 800rpm When At A Stop Light W/ The Ac On.
It Kind Of Sounds Like The Ac Compressor Switches On And Off To Load And Unload The Engine. Any Ideas Would Help. Also, Is This An Interferrence Motor Or Not. T-belt Or Chain. And When Does It Need To Be Changed.

 

Does it only bounce when the AC is on......I believe its a timing chain...and it should have been changed around 38k ago or so...But I'll let 98V6 handle it from here.

 

It Only Happens When The Ac Is On, If I Turn Off The Ac The Idle Smooths Out No Problem

 

Yes it's an interference motor, and it's a belt. It's supposed to be replaced along with the balancer belt, water pump, drive belts, cam seals, and new coolant around 95k if not sooner. Timing chains are designed to never need to be serviced.

 

I Pulled The Codes And It Gave A Idle Control Malfunction Explanation. Does That Ring Any Bells.
