Default radio displays reads "COdE"

I had to have my battery replaced yesterday. when I took the car in the radio and CD player were working fine. when I picked it up it was not working and the display read "COdE". Any idea what that means and if the people who replaced the battery had something to do with it?

Yes, replacing the battery reset the car stereo. You need to enter a code to get it working again. It's an anti-theft measure that many auto manufacturers impement in their car stereo's. I'm not sure exactly where you find the code as I got rid of my crappy stock stereo a long time ago. Hopefully you have the code with your car's documentation, like the owners manual or what not.

The code should come with your car. If you bought your car new, its a little piece of paper with "CODE" on it. Usually the dealer put that paper with the car owners manual package. Look at your owners manual package, you will find it.

If you don't have the code, then go to the nearest honda dealer with your stereo serial number from the back of your stereo, they will be able to help you. But you have make sure that you are the current owner of this car. Take your car registration and driver licence to prove it. They usually help out for free. So, look around at other dealership if anyone try to charge you for it.

thanks
Bill.

Some dealers paste this information inside the glove box. But not all. You may be lucky.
