Default Fix milage on new cluster?

Is there any way to match the mileage to my car if i buy a new cluster? I would like to do this myself, just cause i like messing with stuff and i'd like to see how it works. my car is a 96 accord and I'm keeping it til it dies so i'm not worried about cheating someone or anything, but I'd like to know if i can do this without having to take it to a dealership or whatever... can anyone help?

it can be done... but the speedo is VERY easily broken.

I am not going to go into detail as to how its done...

You'll get many mixed opinions about this im sure...

If anything, you'd be being more truthful by rolling it forward or backward to the correct mileage.

I swear, people on the internet these days with their gullable comments. "its more truthful to roll your odometer....blah blah blah" Yeah fucking right. No one is that honest, and there is only one reason this dude wants to do this to his odometer and if anyone thinks differently they are being tricked. I wouldnt help this guy, we all know why he is doing it but want to believe that he is doing it for good. Hes not, and you all know it.

As i said, I'm keeping the car till it dies? Who the fuck am I gonna cheat? I didn't think people were really that fucking stupid... seriously, some of you guys are like old fucking ladies, just looking to chime in whenever you can, so if you can't answer a question and act like a goddamn decent person, then SHUT THE FUCK UP you piece of shit...

How many miles are on your accord presently? Just a heads up, the speed sensor died on my '96 at 124,000. I was told it was a fairly common thing with 5th gens. The dealership fixed it for me at no charge. I was pretty shocked, actually, since I bought the car from them five years and 80,000 miles ago. They said it was covered. I wasn't about to argue.

Anyway, I only lost about 30 miles on the speedo (which of course, doesn't move when the sensor doesn't work), so they said not to worry about it. They probably would have rolled it up for me if it'd had been a more significant number of miles. If I were you, I'd call a Honda dealer about it and see what they say. Maybe mention your mileage, and ask about the speed sensor.

Oh, and when I traded the car in, they asked if the mileage was accurate, and I said "as a matter of fact, no. It's about 20-30 miles short." I guess that makes me honest.

What kind of a response did you expect to get?

Odometer fraud is illegal.
