Default Burnt Valve, burning oil?

Hey, I'm looking at buying this Accord, here's the link

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...3&aff=national

You gotta love sellers like this guy. He's almost a little too honest. Anyways, after the test drive, which went perfect, he informed me that he had a burnt valve replaced that he belives was due to low oil in the engine. He thinks the car is buring oil because he observed that it was about a quart low at his oil change. The car doesn't blow blue smoke and the oil in the engine is very clean, it was changed 1000 miles ago and it looks better than the oil in my 93 Accord after 1000 miles. Question is, do you think I should be wary of his claims about the valve and oil burning or is it probably ok since the valve was replaced and the oil is clean? This guy is the farthest thing from a mechanic I've seen. It's almost cute

Check for heat marks on the cam? I wouldn't buy it anyways....Too high miles for a 99 and way to expensive.

It's normal to be about a quart low at your next oil change. It also depends how often VTEC is engaged. VTEC engagement burns oil. It might even burn more oil than what he's claiming.

Well thanks for the imput, I think I'm going to go ahead. I checked it out again to listen for any noise in the engine and check for smoke out the back when it's started cold. No dice, not a single thing I could find wrong. I talked him down to $8000 on it. My problem with Accord shopping is that I'm too picky. I want the Ex, 4 cyl with the 5-speed, and Light Colored-Not Dark. Of the 50 or so I've checked out online, only a handful have met that criteria.

You think so? I've looked at a couple other Accords with the options I want and I'll admit, this one is the most expensive. But the others, while they have about the same miles on them, Look like they have a lot more. This one looks similar to an Accord with 20-50K miles on it. It's in much better shape as far as the body and interior go. What would you pay for it? One more thing worth mentioning is the market for Accords around here. They are just pricy. Do a search on autotrader or Cars.com with 84043 in the zip. Just can't find a GOOD 6th gen for under 7.5-8K.
