My cousin is going to give me his f23a1, therefore my question is will the f23a1 engine fit into a 4th gen accord? what mods do I need? I know that the motor and tranny mounts are identical but what about re-wiring the ecu, vtec controller?
it will bolt in as for running thats another story since it's OBD2b and will require the PCM ,tranny if auto if not your old trany will work , the cat, evap system custom wireing . or use a 94-95 Ex 5th gen ECU make a few wireing changes try to get the F22b1 intake, dizzy, exhaust manifoild to bolt on. (unknown)
why would you run an F23? I know you got it for free, but the aftermarket on the F23 isn't as strong as the aftermarket for the H22, and the F23 is just an economy engine that gets decent gas milage, but it is very reliable.
well what engine besides the f23 do any one in here recommend? and why?
H22, or a Kseries. Right now everyone is all about the K24(TSX engine) with they head off of the K20(RSX type-s engine), doing the hondata ecu reflash, and some other bolt ons. that combo will produce very respectable power. both are well supported in the aftermarket, both put out decent power, both are DOHC engines. Those are the main reasons. one good thing about the F23 is that the block is very strong and is a good choice for boosting applications, but the internals cannot take high boost. you'll have to upgrade your internals if you plan on running more than 9lbs of boost. If your going the NA route K series or H series is the way to go, if you boost then the F23.
