Hey OTH,

Are you serious? I was told you could get as many as ten layers of clear coat.

Maybe the amount of layers of regular paint under plays into it?

I'd like to find out for a professional, but they charge just to answer a simple question. Seems counterproductive, as I'd be more likely to get my work done with the person that just told me straight up what is available for me to perform on my car.

I'll have to find out the facts behind the number of layers of clear coat you can actually use.

I'm sure you could use 50 coats of clear if you wanted. I just thought I heard that it does "something" (adherence, color, too thick, ...) if you went more than 4 coats. Some manufacturers of clear do leave a yellow tint and some are truly clear. Not sure what's the best though. I would do some research about using so many coats of clear.
