WATS up ppl.... hey i have a 1990 accord 4door lx that the shifter stays stuck on park...i cannot move it into drive or anything unless i place the key inside the shiftlock hole...and for some reason it also idles higher than normal..and sometimes idles to low and turns off... wat do u think might be the problem....

 

As for the shifter, its probably a bad shift lock solenoid in the center console... when the car is on and you push on the brake, do you hear a click from the center console/shifter area? If not, the solenoid must be bad.

not really sure about the idle... maybe the fast idle valve on the throttle body though.

when it idles too low, is your AC on?

 

no...the AC is off and when im drivin and for example when i go to stop at a light or something it idles out and turns off on me...

 

I don't know... you can try adjusting your idle speed to prevent it from shutting off, but i would take it to a mechanic and have it checked out.

 

i did adjust that but i burns more gas that way....and lets say im drivin and stop and then place it into neutral the idle shoots up to 4000...then when i place it into drive again it flyes down and attempt to turn off
