Default 87 Accord...Engine Blown?

I'm driving down the road, hear a ticking sound, smoke (steam) coming from the engine area. The car shuts off and I pull to the side of the road. I check the radiator it is as dry as a new bag of potato chips.

I Added water; however, when I turn the ignition, the belts are spinning/turning but the engine isn't turning over. I'm only hearing the whining sound of the belts. 2 days later, no change.

Have I killed this car?

Thanks for any words of wisdom. I am a residential electrician, and unfortunately NOT an auto mechnic.

Make sure theres oil in the engine. If it was ticking bad, theres no oil in it and it will not start. If theres oil left in and its doing this, i'm afraid you may have fried it

Shallow Bay,

I had the oil changed in the car on May 6th, 2006. The car has about 131,000 miles on it, and been driving it every single day, sometimes 60 to 70 miles. Is it possible for an ''87 Accord, or any car for that matter to burn that much oil in 2 months???

Of course it is, if you don't check it. Unfortunetly I think you either need to buy a newer car that you don't have to pay as much attention to or buy an older car and take better care of her :happysad:

this is an 87 we're talking about too... thats nearly 20 years old. you should be happy it lasted as long as it did. but yes its possible to burn that much oil in 2 months. you should check your oil every week or so.
