Default Battery Light on 90' accord

I was driving on 520 today when my car died. My battery light came on on Monday and was on and off so I couldn't pin point the problem. So I kept on driving till today (Friday) when it died. I'm not quite sure what the problem is because the light would go on then off. Have any of you guys had this problem? I don't know if it's a loose connection with my wires or that my alternator is going bad. any input would be great.

Could be a loose connection, dead battery or bad alternator. Jump it off another car and check the voltage at the battery with the lights on. Better yet, if you can get it to an AutoZone they can load test your charging system for free.

well, the car died again. stupid battery light keeps coming on and off. what are the chances it's wiring or just a really bad alternator?

Well it couldn't be any easier to check for both, so you can probably tell yourself if you spend about 5 minutes on google and with the car.

I would guess it's the alternator as the battery light is wired directly to the alternator . most likely the brushes are worn to nothing, easy to check just pull the brushes off and check and replace them they are like $25 new I had the same thing happen and brushes fixed it . especally if it's orginal alternator!

Pull the alternator, take it down to Schucks and have it tested.

I bet money your alternator died.

if the light is out at the time of testing I would bet it would check fine... the simple thing would be to pull the brushes if they are both clean then it's ok if one side is dull then it was arcing on that side .
