Default Problem with brake pads.

I've been having this problem with my brake pads and I was wondering what could be the cause. I bought a set of Hawk pads and after installing them I noticed that the thin metal pads on the back slipped out, in fact slipped out so far that they scratched the hats on my rotors and I actually had to replace the rotors. They also never did work without squealing after they had gotten heated up and so I replaced them with a much cheaper set. I thought the problem was solved until I noticed that on the new pads, the same thing happened. The metal noise plates had slipped out again and had started scratching my new rotors and making a terrible sound in the process. Now, the side they're slipping is obviously the side of the caliper that doesn't make contact with the piston. I thought those plates were always stuck on the pads very well until this happened. What could be the cause of those plated slipping off the backs of my brake pads? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you line up the bumps on the pad with the piston?

I don't believe there are bumps on the brake pads, unless of course the OEM pads have them, which I don't ever buy.

There should be. If you're going through rotors, maybe you should just take it to someone who has experience installing brake pads and can do it right :dunno:
