Default 93 accord problem.

Well, I've been searching through this forum a bit to find any similar problems and I haven't find anything so I decided to post and hope some of you may answer.
Anyway.. I have a '93 Accord and just today as I was driving home the engine check light came on and the car felt very weird, it was chugging a lot and was idling at about 500rpm, and it seemed as if it had no power. Stepping on the gas a bit seemed like it would do nothing, I would have to push it in a lot more than normal and the car would finally get a bit of speed. Also, at one point the engine made quite a weird sound like it was revving.
I decided to check under the hood and get the girlfriend to rev the engine a bit and its making some pretty weird noises. Sorry for the non-technical description

Oh, and I don't know if it could be related but a couple days ago.. for the first time I heard the engine squeak, like a belt was wet or something.

Well we can't diagnose "weird noises". It could be a number of things...air filter, EGR, timing belt jumped a tooth, etc.

Have you had your timing belt done recently? It could be on wrong (missed a couple of teeth).

If you have higher mileage on your car, 90K+, and you have never had it done, then it's time...

But "weird noises" doesn't tell anyone much...

i have a 92. the only time my check engine light has ever come on when its not suppose to was when my distributor died. it took awhile to finally give up the ghost.. it made the typical high pitched bearing noise. being located near the belts made it hard to figure out where it was coming from at first. there were recalls on the distributor on several honda models in the early 90s. the recall is no longer available but honda replaces the distributor with the same type so the bearing will go bad again. obd11 is for the generation after ours and up and when the check engine light comes on, it is emissions related. not sure what obd1 cels trigger in our cars.

i had a bad valve that needed to be adjusted that created a whole mess of symptoms but never triggered the check engine light. a bad coil and ignitor wont make a sound when they go out. but u will get symptoms of poor running performance. i ended up replacing a whole mess of original parts last summer because of the age of the car and miles. coil, vss, o2 sensor were the original. then i did the dist cap, rotor button, wires, plugs. stayed with all honda parts. the valve created the most trouble as far as rough running. even when my transmission died i didnt get a check engine light.

It actually has 190k on it, it was bought used about 3 years ago, I don't even remember how many km's it had on it when bought. And no I haven't changed the timing belt on it since I've had it and I'm not sure if the previous owner had either.

It just feels like if I rev it too much then somethings gonna snap heh, after reading a lot I have a feeling it may be the timing belt also. I'm going to take it in to get looked at in a few minutes actually, I will report back. Thanks guys for your replies.

You don't really have to take it anywhere to get it looked it, it's pretty simple to see if the timing is correct on the F22.

Sorry for the dumb questions, how do I get a CEL code? and how do I check if the timing is correct.

On a side note I just got a mechanic to take a quick look at it for a sec and he quickly said it was the distributor. He said pretty much exactly what fstop128 said.

the search feature is your best friend, but ill give you a real quick run down.

under your dashboard on the passenger side all the way over by the door there is an electrical connector that isn't plugged in, mine is blue. you pull it down so you can reach it and stick a paper clip in the 2 terminals to bridge the connection, then turn your key to the "on" position and count the blinks of the CEL
