1994 Accord, F22B3, 2.2 non V-Tec automatic, only gets around 400kms from a full tank of fuel in city driving. To me this is very hungry, O2 sensor seems fine, air filter and plugs are new, no fault codes from the ECU, car runs fine. Any other ideas?

EGR ports and/or valve?

 

Have you calculated your actual L/km? Gauging actual performance on these "per tank" numbers is always a bit difficult.

 

(US folks, 400km = 248.4miles)

You said it yourself, city driving. Because you used the word "kms", I can only assume you live in Canada. Cold weather, city driving, seat heaters, heaters, ect can all effect gas milage

Have you changed your spark plugs? Dirty air filter? Properly inflated tires?

 

I actually live in New Zealand, city driving is much more mild than you would have in the states, I only live in a small town and the car is driven warmed up, not little start stop trips. As far as I know the engine in NZ specced cars does not have any form of EGR system. PCV valve has been replaced, air filter is new, plugs, dissy cap and rotor button are new, tyres are as hard as I would want them to be. Actual km/l has been done and is a consistent 7km/l, which is crap. There are V8's over here that do better than that. The car has done 210,000km but runs perfect, apart from the gas mileage, and uses no oil.

 

Pretty much every single car since the late 70's has had an EGR system. You need to buy a service manual for instructions and search the website for tips, MPG has been discussed over and over again

 

maybe you have a heavy load on the car and the car is stressed from that weight. just a general thought to consider.

 

I would like to +1 on what e3nine said.
that's what I would tell you too. Plus, your car has over 200K ... you should loose some amount of mileage. what's your gas tank size?
even you changed to those new things... Engine itself is old. Think about your pistons.... they've been there since when? they have expanded spaces between pistons and engine.

 

Yes, but km aside, it has had leakdown and compression tests, for a 200,000km motor it is as good as a new one. Also, re the EGR part, my car DEFINATLY does not have any form of EGR system. New Zealand assembled vehicles tend to be that way, we don't have any form of emmisions test that we have to pass.

 

Hm, that's interesting. Do you have a catalytic converter?
