First, by your same logic, in just a tiny bit more time than it took you to write "I see the search button is still broken," you could have just written what you did above about the product; and it would have given me more info than when I started and would have been more helpful to EVERYone than your broken search comment.
Secondly, I did ask in the context of the EGR job as I wrote "I've actually got to clean my EGR ports ...." meaning that I was curious about it since maybe it would help me in my upcoming endeavors.
Third, I did go back and use the infamous search, which is why I said there seems to be some debate on (read: concern or questioning on) whether or not to use it. If YOU used the search to pull back the older threads on it, you would better understand my "quite a debate" comment a little better perhaps?
Finally, threads and posts are about conversations. If you don't want to contribute to one, then don't. If you don't like a question being asked, just don't respond at all. Forums are just that.
And let me end on this note... Surely server space isn't all that big of an issue. With over 10K posts yourself, I can almost bet that every single one does not provide 100% useful information or insight, especially if half of them say something like "Use the search" or "Don't forget to use search" or "I guess the search is broken again."
See? It's all good. Now I know what Seafoam is, how much it costs, and that it won't do any good for cleaning my EGR ports anyway.

I was in a really big rush and I was getting bitched at like crazy for 'making the house smell like carb cleaner'. Next time I'll do it in my apartment's driveway instead of going to my parent's garage...Basically, the EGR port got completely cleaned out with q-tips, shop towels and carb cleaner. The port on the intake manifold was just as bad and I cleaned that out too, as well as running hot soapy water and carb cleaner throught the manifold (after I took off the chamber). It didn't take that long and as long as you have a torque wrench and a service manual (or alldata isntructions) it's pretty easy for someone with moderate mechanical skill. The blackened intake runners were pretty much left as is...I sprayed some carb cleaner in there but I didnt have proper tools so I really didnt want to use a brush on it because I was really afraid that one of the bristles would fall down into the cylinder.
One other thing, I talked to a tech at the Honda dealer about the 'EGR fix kit', which is like 75 bucks and basically includes a little metal tube to stick in the engine block side of the EGR port and a special drill and tap to fit it in. He said that it really doesn't make a difference or extend how long it takes for the port to get clogged because it's more a problem with the inherent design of the port and the shitty NE winter fuels.
Question...Shawn, maybe you know this...are the pri/sec/mid VTEC rocker arms supposed to have side to side play? All of them did except for one which felt like the piston was engaged because it was so tight. I know to properly inspect them you're supposed to rotate the crank to TDC for cylinder X then check the rocker arms for that cylinder, but I didn't think any of them should be so 'stuck'. Ideas?

I have to check the EGR system on my '95 Odyssey. I know it ticks on acceleration while the engine is still cold and almost goes away after driving for a while. I'll have to see if there is a procedure for the F22 4 cylinder engine.

Drum roll please. The following link is for 90-93 and also for the next gen of F22's. It also has real pics and not drawings.
http://home.comcast.net/~em-engineering/T2T013.pdf
It seems drilling is not required on the later generation of F22's.

A couple of threads I found that may could help...

http://board.hondasociety.com/showth...threadid=76558
And...
http://home.comcast.net/~em-engineering/T2T013.pdf not only contains instructions for 90-93 L-4s but also 94 and up L-4s as well.

One tip for everyone trying this...in the TSB for it Honda states to 'clean or replace the EGR valve itself. I spent $3 on a new gasket for it and cleaned it out, new EGRs are over $80-90 easily. Don't replace it unless you're absolutely certain it's bad! Remember, it's just an electrically controlled valve, so it could just be stuck due to carbon buildup but the electrical components should still be working.
