worked on car, now no electrical power...
Ok, here's my situation. My '94 Accord was involved in a front end accident about a month ago. Well, today we pulled the radiator and front end out so that it wasn't pushed into towards the exhaust manifold. So we go to start the car up to see how it runs and it starts up and idles fine. Then I put the car in reverse and it dies. After that I had no electrical power whatsoever. The only thing that worked was we noticed that the brake lights would illuminate when you pushed the brake down. But nothing else (power door locks, gauges, lights, starter) would work. So what could be the problem? A fuse or a short somewhere or possible something else?
seems like the accident did more damage than expected. It's possible that the automatic trans got rocked. If the impact was was enough to push the frame into the exhaust manifold, it was more than enough to seperate or crack a trans housing.
Well, it's hard to say at this point, but I'm not sure that the transmission is damaged at all. I took the car out for a spin once since the accident and it seemed to drive "ok". Although I had to have the steering wheel cocked 30 degrees to the left to go straight. Also, my back passenger wheel is turned...I think the tow truck driver did that actually.

IF checking and replacing hte fuses doesn't work, and you still want to repair the vehicle yourself, you're going ot need a repair manual wiht electrical diagrams. It will help if you understand how to read the diagrams, trace down and test the circuits.
Whenever an electrical problem cannot be easily fixed, it usually requires several hours of testing with a volt meter to isolate where the shorted wire id located.
