Is there anything wrong with taking out my air box resonator and just strapping in the the filter on my 2000 accord?

just taking out the entire resonator, and strapping the stock filter to the top part that goes to the engine, it needs to be straped because the filter would be on the bottom seeing as the box it usualy sits in would be gone

You can remove the resonator without removing the lower part of the box that holds the filter.

Is there anything wrong with it? No, it likely won't hurt anything. Might increase flow, it'll be a bit louder. Might be more succeptible to sucking water up but I'd say it's probably not a big deal.

You won't be the first to do it if it makes you feel any better.

with my SRI, I removed the resonator for a week ... not good. I could feel the engine bog.

By SRI I'm assuming you mean an aftermarket intake...what system? I know the V6 is different, but I don't see how the resonator would affect an aftermarket intake.

the actual resonator is inside the bumper and can easily be removed without changing the air box or modifying it.

I tried this in the middle of summer and it wasn't good.

With the SRI, I could always hear a sucking noise when I'd press the accellerator. Without the res, the sound was completely gone. I could feel the engine bog though the entire powerband too. Red light stops = strange idle also.

The V6 res is a gigantic J pipe. It really does make a difference.
