My 1998 Accord EX has a little over 100k miles on it and I think it's probably time to change the transmission fluid. I've heard that these cars don't have a transmission filter. Is this correct? Also, what type of transmission fluid do I need to put back in and where exactly on the transmission pan is the drain plug?
One last question (and probably a stupid one), but where exactly is the drain plug on the trasmission pan (I've never looked for it when changing the engine oil)?
the reason why there isnt a filter and you should not "flush" it is bc there is a "screen". if you do a flush, it will push debris thru the screen defeating its prupose. honda recommends changing the fluid every 100k mi for normal driving. i did mine at 50k.
OK, got the transmission fluid drained (that drain plug was a B!%ch to loosen). I can fill it by removing the plug on the top side labeled "ATF" and putting the fluid there, right? The only reason I ask is that I've seen other posts where people say to fill it by using the dipstick pipe (which you can't really get a funnel to fit over the top of it).
