Default No display on radio (04 EX manual)

A friend of mine has an 04 Accord EX (manual) Coupe and for some reason the display on the radio is very faint. (really dim). We've tried to adjust the dimmer control but nothing happens. I've even tried to tap the dashboard thinking there's a short or something and nothing happens.
Any suggestions on wht could be the problem?
Thanks...

I'd have to say faulty display screen.

It is a liquid display and it's possible for them to actually go dry.

That should be covered in the warranty, have you tried the dealership yet?

I've told her that. But she's too lazy to take it to the dealer.

there's all sorts of stuff that could be wrong with the display. I've repaired a enough laptop screens to say that you might have blown a screen inverter. It gives off a very similar effect to what you're describing now.

Take it to the dealer while it's under the 36mo/36K warranty. They'll just replace the entire thing.

Is this an LCD display like my '05 was? I found that when you hold the CD/XM button in for 10 seconds, the display goes dim, holding it again for 10 seconds brings it back.

Nothing in the manual about this. I found it by mistake and had a hell of a time figuring out what I did.

Even the dealer didn't know it did this!

Yeah, I think that could be it.
I read it on another board
http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...ad.php?t=21761
and it said basically the same thing.
I'll try it and let you guys know
