I've driven an '05 6 speed coupe, and let me tell you, you can loose an awfull lot of cars with the V6 6 speed manual set up. Now, I've heard for 2006 that even though the hp rating is up only 4, which is due to the revised SAE horsepower ratings, the '06 feels substantially quicker than the '05 (which most people would probably say it didn't really need to be any faster). The Dec. issue of Car and Driver has an '06 automatic V6 sedan clocked in at 6.4 seconds 0-60, so one would surmise that with a stickshift and the lighter weight of a coupe that the car could come close to sub-6 seconds 0-60.

I will probably drive one in the near future myself, as I intend on buying one in the spring.

I am considering replacing my 2003 Acura CL with an '06 V6 Coupe with a 6-speed manual. I've heard that the '06 throttle is electronic (like the TL) which may account for some of the improved performance.

It was only after I bought the CL that I learned the long, painful transmission history. I am curious about this car: are there any chronic issues? Any insights into the V6 manual transmission vehicle will be appreciated.

The Accord was redesigned from the ground up in 2003, and '06 is just a facelift and tail tuck. As far as reliability is concerned, it's the same flawless reputation as it ever was. If you are considering the manual, there's nothing to worry about. I think they've straightened out the automatic transmission issue as well.

...'05 EX V-6 6-speed coupe at 5500 odo: sole regret: not buying sooner.

..Performance, fuel efficiency, reliability. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

best, ez

Bought my 05 with 9k on the odo. Love it. Took it to the dealer once because my HFP springs were making a squeak on the driver side rear but besides that, no problems.. I love my baby and will continue to be loyal to the Honda/Acura mark.

Honda also extended the powertrain warranty on the 06 Accords.

I meant to add that the drive by wire for the Accord V6 was introduced in '03. For '06 I believe they did some modifications on the intake manifold. They've not only increased power, but now the V6 is ULEV-2 California standard emissions nation wide.

Thanks for the feedback. I tend to keep cars well into six digits, so I am looking for a keeper.
