HELP! 5 speed swap problem w/99 Accord.4
I just did a 5 speed swap on my 99 Accord. I used a trans from a 96 Prelude. I had to use the driver side axel from a Prelude because the Ends of the axel are not the same. I did not make it 300 mile before I blew the new axel out of the car. I reinstalled another axel that’s when I noticed that these axels are not the same length. What do I need to do to fix this problem? Do I need to replace the Trans with one from a 6th Gen Accord? Are there different axels that can be used for the driver side? I’m sure this has come up before, and I looked all day to find a similar post. I got a Show coming up soon and I don’t want to brake down again. Thanks
You can get a custom set of halfshafts made. You just need the lengths and type and size of the spline. I think they are a long leadtime however. You could cut then and weld them bakc together, but you have a difficult time getting them straight or balanced. Sounds like your doing a bit of a frankenstein mixing the Prelude tranny with the Accord engine.
