Default Why am I rolling backwards

Hey all:

Got a question about my 2006 Accord Coupe. Several times when I am driving, if I stop on a hill then release my foot from the brake I find myself rolling backwards. This is strange to me because for one thing I have a automatic transmission.

Before this I had a Nissan Xterra which never did this, you released the brake and the truck just stood there.

My question is is this bad for the transmission for it to roll back like this? More often than not I have to hit the gas to get the car moving forward.

Thanks.

that's normal... prob most less-torquey cars would do tht.... but it also depends on the steepness of the hill...

Ya, normal... nothing to worry about. Both my dad's civic and my Accord do that... especially the Accord though, Civic to a lesser degree...

Ya, I'm in Seattle... lots of hills here to roll back on... hell, my driveway is pretty steep even, my Accord rolls in my driveway... but anyway, ya, no need to worry... it's common.

manual is fun on hills, cause you can use the clutch/gas to keep you at a stop then take off like a bat outta hell by simply popin' the clutch

i think thats normal but i dont necessarily think its good for the transmission. if its on drive, going backwards has to be bad right? or maybe thats just my dumb opinion. i really dont have any proof that its bad for the tranny. i just think it would be.
