Default pic of my blown radiator hose.

so i was driving in the city and i notice some smoke coming from my engine so i slow down to pull over and wow I cant see too much smoke lol
pop the engine and see it for urself.

the good thing is the car never overheated and i drove it for about 25mins to a shop and never gave me a problem.

the bad thing I had just pay $100 to get my car super clean the day before and that include washing the engine real good.GRRRR

I kick myself for never changing the upper hose.

when we were flushing the radiator all that cameout was nothing but dirt and even some nasty stuff like some type of glue, probably from old radiator.
i think it was clogged or something like it and the hose is over 9yrs old.

You might want to change the cap on the radiator. The hose failed from overpressure. The radiator cap is designed to act as a pressure relief if the pressure gets too high long before the hose bursts.

I can see the dirty muddy crap. near the hose. Most of the mudd is probably just corrosion and detriorated rubber.

...so is replacing hoses a preventative maintenance thing that should be done every 10 or 15 years? Or when they start to look cracked? I've never even really thought about it.
