You can't adjust the cluster?
Hence why the DMV forms state a section for actual and shown mileage or mechanical limit....

The dealer will need to see your last valid mileage record (ie. from your last oil change from dealer or a shop), and they will need to see your old cluster. Basically, you have to prove to them that the mileage is actual, otherwise, they wont do it. I bought a 30k cluster, and my car had 59k, well, they changed it to 59k for me

the mileage in stored in the EEPROM on the board on the cluster if you swap out the EEPROM you will retain mileage it's the 8 pin dip 93c46 on 98-99 and 93c56 on 00-02 there are online shops that will adjust the mileage for you for a cost cannot remember the name but it was in honda's tsb

if you are good with LED's and soldering, i think you'd know how to do this..but i assume you don't

so it's your circute that powers up teh bulb that is bad. well, with LED, since led's need really really..i mean really small amount of power to get lit up. power up a LED from another bulb that is behind your gauge cluster, and then run the wire up to where it needs to be.

i hope you have balls to do that. not so hard IMO.
