just use soapy water and the "spongy" part of a sponge, not the "scrubby" part, to slow scrub and rub off the extra sticky shit, i cant imagine using nail polish remover or a damn steel wool!, that shit will ruin ur paint!!
Acetone and alcohol are very different compounds. I don't think ethanol will really hurt your paint if you just use it to wipe off some adhesive. Acetone, I wouldn't try.
