i use my alpine on an everyday basis... I like my music to sound its best... a great deck is the best starting point... my friend has a nakamichi that is in his car, not a show car... they are not competition decks, rather better sounding, longer lasting decks with a better reputation...

if it wasnt true, i wouldnt be posting it... trust me...

haha. i remember you said that thing about the 94 db vs 105 db sound rating on the last post i linked to and the other guy still said you don't know what you're talking about.

based on my experience, both alpine and pioneer work just fine. i don't believe that pioneer is considered low quality though. please add in some evidence to support your theory before we consider this anymore.

3 to 1. i guess we're winning: pioneer isn't crap.

oh yeah, and that stock head unit in my accord, the one that i just replaced, now that's crap...guess who's it made by? alpine. those stock speakers that i am doing fine with, they're made by pioneer. (honestly speaking, without bias, i'll change them someday when i have money to kill, but my dual 15" solo baric kickers and RF amp work just fine for now.

no matter what, some companies make crap. and others make more crap. alpine has had its share of their own too. i like alpine too because i've heard for myself, and i see and hear hundreds of headunits on a daily basis in my line of work. just don't be slandering another manufacturer to make your own look better.

I have to disagree, I have the one model below this, DEH-P7400 and I truly love it. I had everything from Sony to Kenwood and everything in between. I didn't want to spend too much cash and wanted something that was good. In my opinion, Alpine is really good, but pricey. Pioneer is a great company and their products are really good as well, it's not low quality. Some people tend to hate on some products because they were suckered into buying something else.... just go to a few sound shops around your area and ask them about the products in your price range, you'll get a good idea as to what is "good" and what is not these days. Sony has alot of hot products out too, like the Sony Mobile ES line.

I used to have the 8400 and it was great. It gives you a good amount of control for how you want to hear your music. It plays mp3s too which is always a good thing!! The only reason I got rid of it was because I now got the 9400 :naughty: :naughty: (working at best buy has one good thing going for it, but that's about it) Anyways I am not going to dispute the fact that alpine, eclipse, and the other name brands listed are better than pioneer. The have incredible sound due to their signal to noise ratio among a couple other things like the shielding they have on their internals, etc. compared to a pioneer. But pioneer is no where near a bad company. Jensen, audiophase, and a lot of the sony products I consider low end. Pioneer is the best head unit that best buy carries. They are better than most of the kenwoods I have seen. A couple excelons beat them out but not many. Now granted we don't carry alpine for the simple fact that they are too high end for best buy. Best Buy in general is low to middle end at best. Some people like a headunit to look nice as well as sound good too. Now its not everyone's taste to do that way and usually the great head units are very plain in appearance. Not everyone needs the best of everything though. Everyone needs something that suits them. Sure alpines usually sound better than pioneers but unless you are a audiophile you might not hear the difference or even care for that matter. But to get back to the point I think that sumaccordguy94 should me a little more open minded. Now I am not trying to start a fight or anything, everyone is entitled to their own opinion like I have my own and I respect everyone else's opinion. I personally don't think alpine is THAT much better than a pioneer considering the difference in money you might spend sometimes. In my opinion head units make a big difference in your sound but the most important thing is your speakers. If I were you asnbiggboi, I would get the 8400 cuz I highly recommend it and then get some really good speakers depending on how important sound quality is to you. Find some speakers that you like and def upgrade the wires you use to connect everything. If you already like whatever speakers you pick, you will like them even more when you hear them with better wires and cables!! Man, sorry about writing a book but I am bored in class. That was my very long .02:thumbup: :fawk:

i bought the jvc mp3 cd player this summer. i know its not high quality at all, but i was broke, it was cheap (also a Best Buy employee), and it gets the job done. imo, some of the higher end stuff looks and may technically "sound" nicer, but i'm no audiophile and i wouldn't be able to tell much difference. also, i don't have subs or anything in my car because most of the time i'm driving, its with other people in the car, so the music is usually turned down so we can enjoy conversation. i needed a cd player for functionality, looks or "superior" sound are not as big of priorities (at the moment)....mine plays mp3s and cd-rs...i'm on stock speakers and i have no complaints about my sound quality...imo, 150 bones to get the job done is better than hundreds more to be able to tell people (most of who can't tell anyway) that my cd player "sounds nicer"

seanbean,
which best buy do you work for? i worked for the one in Melbourne, FL this summer (512) but now i'm back at school and working for the one in Ann Arbor, MI (408). How much did the 9400 run you after discount (you can PM me if you don't want to say to everyone
